Earlier this year I gave this speech in Florence on AI, culture and the Italian Renaissance.
In this talk I go through what we can learn from various Italian princes for the age of AI. Will we enter a new age of polymaths, science and beautiful architecture? Or will AI slop overwhelm civilization and be the final ghastly episode of modern brain rot?
The other speakers on the panel were Eike Schmidt, Director of the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Naples, and previously director of the Uffizi Museum in Florence, and Francesco Torselli, a member of the European Parliament who also has a deep interest in culture and the Renaissance. The whole event was very well organised by New Direction.
